Originally from Newark, NJ, Chef Adam Morris grew up encompassed by traditional and tasty food; specifically those with heavy spanish influences. Chef Adam developed a passion for cooking by watching, helping, and learning alongside his mother “Robin Morris Enoch”. She was the fire jump-starting his passion for the culinary world at an early age. Moving to Badin, NC, at a young age he learned to elevate his mother’s recipes over the years alongside her. Chef Adam said “that experience with her was the best because it focused my learning and mindset to go global with cooking and concepts.” She would always say “the world is big go explore it and learn”.
He started working in kitchens; washing dishes and bussing tables. Not long after, chefs saw his drive and would teach him simple tasks around the kitchen. From grilling Texas toast, to washing and chopping lettuce. According to Chef Adam “working at J’s American Cafe in Badin, NC with Chef Jim had many memorable moments. It was here that I learned the basic building blocks of making sauces and coulis.
“We would make a different sauce daily and we had no shortage of fresh ingredients to do so. Boy did we make some delicious sauces. And some that were absolutely terrible! (apple cinnamon beurre blanc, lol. What a disaster!!!)”
He attended culinary school at The Culinary Institute of the Carolinas at Greenville Technical College, in Greenville SC. Where he studied hospitality management with a focus on the culinary arts. According to Chef Adam “the toughest battle was my mom passing during the school year and trying to push forward.” After his mother’s passing he truly fell in love with cooking, he furthered his education by going to train on food culture in South America, Colombia.
What started as a small hobby during the COVID pandemic in 2020, became much more. In late fall of 2021, Chef Adam launched InkdChef, offering clients his innovative interpretation of Spanish and Mediterranean Soul fusion cuisine. As the chef and owner, he is continuously striving to build upon his vision of providing exemplary dishes and a comprehensive experience, while also encouraging a rewarding team environment for his staff.
Chef Adam is excited to bring his passion for cooking to the Upstate. Where he can execute local, fresh fares showcasing his love for cuisine.
