Herman Ng, Owner and Managing Partner of Xo Brasserie, brings a lifetime of hospitality experience rooted in his upbringing in Columbia, South Carolina. Growing up in his family’s Chinese restaurants—where white tablecloths and lazy Susans were the norm—Ng developed an early appreciation for the power of a well-executed dining experience and the sense of comfort it can provide.
Over the course of his career, Ng has played an integral role in assisting with the opening, oversight, and operational execution of the Oak Steakhouse concepts under the Indigo Road umbrella, helping to implement best practices that emphasize consistency, excellence, and team development. His leadership style is both standards-driven and hands-on, built on clear communication, direct feedback, and a strong sense of accountability. By fostering trust and encouraging ownership among his team, Ng ensures that every service, dish, and guest interaction meets a high standard.
For Ng, hospitality is deeply personal. It’s a craft he’s been immersed in since childhood and one he continues to approach with intention and care. He is driven by the belief that every guest deserves a warm, memorable experience—one that offers a moment of comfort and connection around the table.
Outside of the restaurant, Ng enjoys staying active through hiking, fitness, and spending time outdoors with his wife, Melanie, and their three cats — Iggy, Mini, and Wonton.
