John has dedicated the past 20 years of his life to the food and beverage industry, specifically fine wine and spirits. He was only 21 when he passed the introduction and then certified exam per the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Born in Greenville, SC, his career has taken him from Seegers in Atlanta, McCrady’s in Charleston and The Windsor Court Hotel as Director of Food and Beverage in New Orleans. He has also worked for the importing company Broadbent Selections and for Wine Unlimited Wholesale.

In 2024, John returned to his hometown with his wife and two sons to become the Wine Director for Soby’s. “The food and beverage industry is not just a career,” says John. “I consider wine and spirits to have a cultural, historical and social significance that inspires a deeper connection in my life.”
